30 weeks (+4)

How Far Along: 30.5 weeks

How Big is Baby: Baby is now the size of a butternut squash

Gender: I still can’t tell you… we are keeping it a secret! From everyone. Except for each other.

Baby’s Milestones This Week: rapidly growing brain pathways

Total Weight Gain: 18 pounds! The weight gain scares me but there is nothing I can do about it

Who We’ve Told About the Pregnancy: No one is in the dark

Maternity Clothes: I have no other option for my top half. I did have some baggy clothes before that fit well not, but pretty much all I can fit into is maternity tops.

Stretch Marks: No new marks yet

Sleep:Pretty good. I have been able to get back to sleep fairly quickly if I wake up. I get up to pee about 5 times a night.

Best Moment of the Week: I have a large family on my mothers side and this weekend we had a family reunion. We had over 120 guests. On the Friday night before the reunion we had a party for my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary. It was great to see all of my family.

Food Cravings: Not really any cravings. I have been thankful my appetite hasn’t increased too much.

Food Aversions: none.

Symptoms: My body is getting sore now. Every morning I wake up with sore feet. In phoenix I got the worst charlie horse of my life and my leg hurt for 4 days!

Labor Signs: No!

Belly Button In or Out: In but looks funny. It kinda has a veiny ring below the surface around it.

Wedding Rings On or Off: Off, which I actually feel sad about. I did not want to have to take it off ever.

Mood: good! I haven’t had any mood swings. I am a tiny bit more emotional at times but not in everyday situations. For example a cat was hit by a car in my town and they posted a tasteful as possible photo on Facebook for the owner to be reached. All these people started posting photos of their fur babies asking if it was there cat. I lost it and couldn’t stop crying for 5 minutes. It was just so sad.

Movement: Baby kicks tons! Our midwife told us what position baby was in so now I know what is kicking where. The head is down and it’s shoulder spine and bum are on my left side and legs and arms reach to my right belly. The midwife took M’s hands and put them just above my pubic bone and she got to cradle the babies head. It’s pretty surreal.

What I’m Looking Forward To: Having baby here and being on mat leave. I am really getting stressed about work as now it appears we will be striking all September. I have no idea how we will make our mortgage .

What I Miss: having a secure job!

Nesting: Baby room is getting closer to being finished. It is painted, has the dresser and crib, we have a swing and bouncer and we decorates the wall above the crib. It has a musical quote “all you need is love” and we surrounded it with home made canvases of our 4 animals in black and white. The wall above the dresser will be little shelves with photos of our family and all the people our baby will get to know. Me and M, our parents, grandparents, aunt and uncle, and cousins.

So we have 9 weeks 3 days to go! Under the double digits. We are happy about that but October 10th still seems so far away. My midwife told me to add 3 weeks onto my due date and then the baby will come early and I won’t be disappointed. I almost told her to F off. Hah! We are happy babies head is down so we are hoping for a smooth non c section delivery. The midwife told us they will not do an episiotomy but will let you tear naturally. They assured me they will freeze before stitching (I’ve never had stitches) but she said she can’t guarantee me the stitching won’t hurt. I am not panicked about labor and delivery yet and I am reassuring myself that it will all be okay. I just need to get M more in board with learning about the stages as labour so she can be a great coach. With the lack of funds we are not able to afford a doula :(.

In other news, we have had the hottest summer I can remember. We normally have a week of brutal heat and the rest is warm but bearable but for about a month we have had hot hot heat. I don’t want to complain but I would belly if it toned down a bit!

Also, 3 of my friends online and in real life have all gotten positives this month after each trying for more then a year. 2014 is a good year!

I can’t wait to meet the new little bundle… in another 12 weeks. 😉 (It’ll feel slow, but looking back you won’t believe how quickly it went. Promise.)
